Gaspar Labs ("we," "our," or "us") built PSHS NCE Reviewer as a free, ad-supported application. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your choices regarding your data when you use our app.
This app is used by children. Please read the Children and Families section below, which sets out how it differs from an ordinary app in this respect.
PSHS NCE Reviewer does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
The app stores the following data locally on your device using SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us:
This data persists until you uninstall the app or clear the app's data through your device settings.
PSHS NCE Reviewer uses the following third-party services that may collect data independently, subject to their own privacy policies:
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers (including an advertising ID), ad interaction data, and other information as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Advertising in this app is handled differently for child users — see Children and Families.
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to support ad measurement. It may collect an advertising identifier, app usage and interaction events, and general device information as described in Google's Privacy Policy. This data is used in aggregate to improve the app and is not used by us to identify you personally.
We use Firebase Cloud Firestore as a read-only question database. The app retrieves questions from this service but does not write or upload any user data to it.
We use Firebase Remote Config to fetch app configuration values (such as minimum app version and feature settings). No user data is sent to this service.
We use Firebase App Check with the Play Integrity API for device attestation to help prevent abuse. This service verifies that requests come from a genuine instance of the app but does not collect personal data.
The app relies on Google Play Services as underlying infrastructure for the services listed above. Google Play Services may collect data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
INTERNET | Required to access the Firebase question database and serve advertisements |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Used to send daily "Question of the Day" reminder notifications |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Used to restore scheduled notifications after device restart |
WAKE_LOCK | Used to ensure notification delivery while the device is idle |
VIBRATE | Used for notification feedback |
The National Competitive Examination is taken by Grade 6 pupils applying for Grade 7 admission, so this app is written for children of roughly 11 to 12 years old as well as for the parents, guardians and teachers who help them prepare. It is declared as a mixed-audience app under Google Play's Families policy. We do not claim this app is for adults only, and we ask you not to treat it as one.
What that means in practice:
We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child, because the app has no means of collecting personal information from any user. If you are a parent or guardian and have a question about how this app handles your child's data, please contact us using the details below and we will answer.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
